Spring is here
in full bloom, in all its glory,
passing by, like last year’s
with people trapped inside homes
afraid to go out
terrified by a malignant virus,
compulsed to stay indoors
with curfews and lockdowns,
robbed of the opportunity
to have a glimpse of
the blooming red,
yellow, green and pink
and all the colours there are,
adorning the plants and trees,
as leaves, buds and flowers
waiting for someone
to notice them once,
to admire their hues once
even if for a moment
before they fall to the ground
unseen,
and decay,
blending back into the earth
and fading into oblivion,
unappreciated.
