If I could un-invent something

If I could un-invent something,
it would be money.

I envy the birds and animals
who live so freely,
sans the need to work to earn,
no materialistic possessions
or rat-race to win,
the only challenge is to survive the day
unlike humans
embroiled in
stress, overwork, overtime,
expectations, hope, and
despair.

Money is such a
prolific differentiator,
made into a necessary evil
by us, humans,
and the sad thing is
there’s nothing we can do now;
the only way out is
through.

  1. If I could un-invent something it would be the internal combustion engine (ICE)

The ICE has drastically changed how people relate to each other.

    – we take jobs that require a long commute that takes from our family and community for to big a part of the day. Wasting too many hours on the road, nonproductive yet commanding our full attention.

    – so many resources go into building an elaborate roads, highways and bridge system. A system that obliterated too much forests, farmland, bisecting environment that wildlife need to thrive. Add to that that there is enough resulting road kill that could feed many a hungry family. So much traffic noise invading every city, village and residential neighborhood.

    – so many wars and countries held hostage chasing down the single resource in too high a demand. Fossil fuels the currency of war that does irreparable damage due to diminished air quality, ground water contamination from fracking, tailing ponds seapage into ground water, tailing ponds overflow into rivers and marshlands, abandoned oil wells polluting the air and being an eyesore .

    – spent cars piled up in junk yards with too many non-recyclabe parts adding to the landfillization of the earth.

Without an ICE we would deal with so many of our needs locally. Any harmful development would be identified and addressed locally because it matters and the “problem makers” are known and part of the community making them the problem/solution bringers.

Without ICE longer excursions would be a rare but wonderful adventure adding to the quality of life by the anticipation, the doing and then cherishing the memories.

The ICE has changed our society. For us who were dropped into this environment from the moment we dropped out of the womb, know nothing different.

We would have a much simpler life without the ICE. We wouldn’t need all the related support services.

I started a list of support services and I can already see that it will fill several pages.

So who wants to join the Un-Ventors Club?
